This past weekend was just the beginning of a long list of fairs, festivals, and events that are going to keep you super busy and engaged with our beautiful neck of the woods!

2018 Winnipeg Folk Fest

July 5-7
Birds Hill Provincial Park – Birds Hill

Don't let the name fool you, The Winnipeg Folk Fest is one of Eastern Manitoba's hottest summer events! This internationally acclaimed celebration of people and music features over 60 acts, six daytime stages, evening main stage, family area, artisan tent and food court. The 2018 lineup includes Sheryl Crow, Bahamas, courtney barnett, The Strumbellas, Elle King, Passenger, John Butler Trio, Natalie MacMaster, A Tribe Called Red, St. Paul and The Broken Bones, Whitney, Rhye, Julien Baker & more!

Laura's “You can eat that?!” Wild Edible Adventure

July 7
Prairie Shore Botanicals – Gardenton

Get ready for a fun adventure in wild edible plant identification, harvesting, and preparation! These one-day workshops will give you the confidence you need to incorporate a variety of common wild edibles into everyday meals. With Laura's guidance, you will prepare a full-course meal with a variety of wild edibles that you gathered, yourself! The focus of this workshop will be leaves, flowers, and seeds. The menu will depend on what's available at the time. Class size limit: 12

DC Summer Fest

July 7
Various Locations – Dominion City

Head on out to Dominion City to celebrate summer in all of its goodness! Pack up the family and the sunscreen and head to Roseau Crossing Park for Summer Fest 2018 – guaranteed to be a fun-filled weekend for everyone! Take part in a slow-pitch tournament, pancake breakfast, bingo, free swimming at the pool, water hockey, inflatable bouncers, horseshoe tournament, duck races, live entertainment and so much more!

St. Labre 200

July 6-8
St. Labre 200 Raceway – St. Labre

Day 1 – You Build / Day 2 – You Race

St-Labre 200 is so unique and original, that we dare say it’s the only event of its kind in Canada. St-Labre 200 Inc. has 18 teams registered to build their own go-karts within 24 hours. Every team sets up their build area alongside the pit lane. All teams are provided with identical basic powertrain components (motor, wheels, chains, sprockets, brakes). Teams show up with raw steel and must build their frame on site within the 24 hours allotted period. A team is composed of approx. 8 people. In order to make sure they have the best kart, some teams equip themselves with professional mechanics, welders, and engineers. A not to be missed event in rural Manitoba!
