Canoeing, kayaking, and the recently trendy stand up paddleboarding. These paddle sports will get you out in nature, take you on an adventure, and if with a group, will create great memories.

The Eastman Region has the perfect locations for all your paddling needs! From gear rentals, tours and trainers, to spectacular waterways and scenery. Whether you want to get your heart pumping by braving the thousands of kilometres of wild whitewater rivers and waterways or gently cruise along at one of the hundreds of tranquil lakes and soothing channels that lay in the Eastman, they’re waiting for you here.

Where to Paddle in the Eastman

Pinawa Channel

If you are a novice paddler, then Pinawa Channel is the perfect place to plan your paddle experience! With astonishing sights like the Pinawa Suspension Bridge, steep rock cliffs, wildlife, and, of course, Old Pinawa Historic Dam ruins.

Brokenhead River

If you want to start testing your whitewater skills, then the Brokenhead River is the perfect spot for you. With slow-moving water mixed with fifteen Class I rapids, this is a great way to sharpen your skills and become a better paddler.

And the sights aren’t bad on the eyes either; Twisting through Great Woods Park and Campground, cottages, farms, and plenty of forests so you don’t miss out on the wildlife.

Caddy Lake

To venture into Caddy Lake, some experience in paddling would be best. With swift currents in the rock tunnels and choppy waves occurring at times . . . but it is definitely worth it!

Caddy Lake probably has one of the most interesting history. The two tunnels that are on this route is one of Manitoba’s best sights to be seen. The rock caves were a result of building two main railroads.

Rat River

This semi-challenging river is best if you have dealt with fast waters and fallen trees just above or below the surface. While on your paddle adventure, you can expect to see majestic animals like deer, a variety of birds, snapping turtles, and more; and incredible landscapes and natural beauty.

Whitemouth River

The Whitemouth River has a little bit of everything. With smooth, calming waters that provide natural seclusion and gives you time to take in nature and wildlife. There are also several rapids (Class 1-3) along the river, so if you are looking for a more action-packed trip, this is the place for you.

These are just a few places in the Eastman that you can experience a fantastic day of paddling. Find your perfect destination for your paddle adventure!
