Hundreds of Manitoba art lovers flocked to North Eastman on August 17 & 18 to take a self-guided driving tour to visit 28 regional artists at their home studios and public venues during the annual Boreal Shores Art Tour 2024. This annual event is a favorite in the region and provides local artists an opportunity to display their work and generate some revenue from sales of their art. I had the pleasure of meeting with and visiting five of these talented locals, and having attended the tour in past years, the 2024 event did not disappoint! Local artist, author, story teller and honey producer Mary Louise Chown welcomed two fellow artists to display their work at her Lady Slipper Art Studio in River Hills. Her guest artists included wood carver Bertram Heinrichs and pottery crafter Cheryl Penner. From there, I travelled to Brookside Road where I found Richard Cline busy at his craft as he greeted and chatted with Art Tour visitors. My final stop was to the W B Lewis Centre in Pinawa where I dropped in to the Pinawa 211 Art Gallery to say hello then headed to the Board Room to chat with local photographer Stu Iverson and first time exhibitor Jan Harcus. Most exhibitors I spoke with reported that they welcomed an average of 100 visitors per day and enjoyed participating in the two day event.
