From the surreal east shore beaches of Lake Winnipeg, through the Winnipeg River System to the rugged lake country of the Whiteshell, embark on a tour of art and landscapes as artists across this beautiful region open their homes and studios to share their world with you.
45 artists will have their works on display during the 2018 Boreal Shores Art Tour. Join them for a weekend of art as you set off on this self-guided tour, featuring artist studios, artist group locations and galleries scattered throughout the beautiful and diverse Boreal forest and shore regions of Eastern Manitoba.
Venturing into the artistic world has been a consuming new adventure for Janice Charko who creates wearable works of art! Janice's passion is fibre arts. Working with silks, felts and wools as her blank canvas, she creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind scarves, shawls, wrap-skits, hats, purses, and various home accessories. Â
Janice will have her work on display at the Lac du Bonnet Pioneer Club along with fellow artists, Demi-Raine Enns (Mixed Media, Acrylic, Pencil, Ink Charcoal, & Oils), Pam Habing (Alcohol Inks), Shirley Kurian (Photography) and Roy Ward (Wood Turning).
From time immemorial, man has been fascinated by the beauty and variety of stone giving Denise Gray the inspiration she needs to create original and whimsical pieces of art. With hand-picked pebbles, stones, pieces of driftwood and sea glass as her medium, Denise sets to work telling the tales of the mediums and the eons of time it took to shape them.Â
Denise will have her work on display at Senior Scene along with fellow artists, Corinne Flaws (Photography, Oil, Alcohol Ink, Watercolour), Chris Ford (Photography), Alex Martin (Photography), Bridgid Meakin (Stained & Fused Glass), Trish Richardson (Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour, Pen & Ink), and Diane Silverthorne (Photography).
Exploring endless possibilities, Rick Merrit dives into the spirit of each wildlife carving, or painting bringing a true likeness and character along that is uniquely his own. For twenty years, Rick has been shaping, constructing, painting and carving his visions to life; with his latest adventure leading him into the world of chainsaw carving.Â
Rick will have his work on display at South Moon Studio along with fellow artists Chrissy Sie-Merrit (Acrylic, Drawing, Fibre Weaving), Margaret Brook (Fibre Arts in Wool & Silk), Brigitta Urben (Ceramic Sculptures & Dinnerware, Oil Paintings).Â
Benjamin's Bistro – Traverse Bay – Serving breakfast or lunch from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and fine dining until 8:00; Benjamin's Bistro is a great place to stop and refuel. Known for their amazing traditional breakfast and lunch choices, the real treats are on the dinner menu with Stuffed Yorkie, Salmon en Croute, and Sesame Teriyaki Shrimp!Â
Drifter's Inn – Lac du Bonnet – open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Drifter's is a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat, or spend the night! The restaurant offers a full menu of traditional breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, but the local favour the homemade pizza, loaded nachos and of course, the wings!
Spicy Radish Cafe – Whitemouth – open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Known for serving up the best locally grown and produced foods in all of Manitoba, you can enjoy their all-day menu any time! Not sure what to get? Try one of the signature dishes that the locals rave about, Spicy Radish Burger, Fettuccine Alfredo, or the fall-of-the-bone Rib Dinner.
Moon Gate Guest House – Whitemouth is a unique, peaceful retreat nestled on the banks of the Whitemouth River. The Staff House B&B – Seven Sisters Falls – built in the 1920’s to house men working on the construction of the Seven Sisters Dam. The Staff House B&B is a sprawling 5700 sq. ft. home that has been extensively renovated while retaining many of the original features & stylings of the original house. It remained in service as a staff house until the late 1990’s.
The Rennie Hotel – Rennie – is a quaint hotel situated at the “Gateway to the Whiteshell” in Rennie, Manitoba. They offer clean, affordable accommodations year round. Each room features full bath, towels and accessories, satellite TV and air conditioning.
