The Eastman Region is going crazy with events! This week there is a huge lineup of events, activities and classes for you to choose from. Try out ICSOS survival classes or if you want something a little more relaxed, sign up for snowman wood sign making. Or visit one of the many Christmas craft sales happening all over the Eastman. One thing is for sure, this week will not be boring!

Pyjama Night at the Library

November 14 – Lac du Bonnet Regional Library – Lac du Bonnet

It’s Pyjama Night! Come dressed in your comfiest PJs, grab your favourite stuffed animal, and join the Lac du Bonnet Regional Library for a fun-filled family evening! There will be stories, games, crafts and lots of snacks.

A Crafted Prairie Christmas 2019

November 15 to 16 – Tache

Head over to Tache for the Crafted Prairie Christmas! This home-based artisan market will create a warm, welcoming environment to do all your Christmas shopping. Come browse their carefully curated collection of handmade goods while sipping on some hot apple cider.

Writing Retreat at Falcon Trails Resort

November 15 to 17 – Falcon Trails Resort – Falcon Lake

Authors Donna Besel and Lauren Carter will be returning to Falcon Trails Resort this November to offer the second session of Wild Writing in the Boreal. This year they will be hosting two levels of writing sessions; one for Emerging Writers as well as a Master Class for more experienced writers.

Wilderness Safety & Survival Level 1 & 2

November 16 & 17 – Alexander

Icsos’ Wilderness Safety & Survival training program is a progressive set of courses that aim to develop your skills and confidence in the wilderness, and specifically, should you find yourself in a survival situation.

Wilderness Safety & Survival Level 1 – Learn the basics of surviving in the wilderness. Our training is based on the current Canadian Air Force doctrine. This course is both informative and entertaining through real-life examples. The basic principles learned, can be used in all environments whether it’s land, marine or urban-based emergencies. Ask questions, handle equipment and start fires.

Wilderness Safety & Survival Level 2 – Apply all the knowledge you learned in the WSS Level 1 course! This fun-filled day outdoors includes practical training and hands-on experience using the best equipment on the market. Practice starting fires using various materials, learn to find water and make it safe to drink and actually build a survival shelter that you could sleep in.

Christmas Cookies, Tea & Wrap

November 16 – St. John’s Heritage Church & Arts Centre – Lac du Bonnet

On November 16, 2019, Lac du Bonnet will be hosting its awesome shopping weekend! You’ll be able to find everything you need on your Christmas shopping list between the stores and the three amazing craft sales happening at the Community Centre, the Lac du Bonnet Legion, and the Pioneer Club.

Once you’ve shopped till you’ve dropped, head on over to see the people at the St. John’s Heritage Church & Arts Centre where you can enjoy a tour of Lac du Bonnet’s oldest, intact building, then sit back for a relaxing cup of tea or coffee and some homemade Christmas Cookies while they wrap up all those amazing gifts for you.

Photo Walk

November 16 – Whiteshell Provincial Park

Bring your camera and join a Park Interpreter as you explore the scenic Pine Point Rapids Trail for a Photo Walk. Along the way, you will capture the beauty of the park while discovering the importance of staying connected to nature.

Firefly: A Concert of Stories and Songs

November 17 – The Listening Room – Lac du Bonnet

The Listening Room is proud to present Mary Louise Chown and Shannon Shewchuk for an afternoon of Stories and Songs.

Known as the amazing storytelling duo, Firefly, these two women bring stories alive with songs, drums, and hammered dulcimer. Paying close attention to the music of language that connects the worlds of the ordinary and extraordinary, Firefly delves into a world of myths and legends, culture and history; teaching about the past and sharing the present with audiences of all ages.
