Deer Meadow Farms (Springfield)
Deer Meadow Farms creates a new design for their ten-acre corn maze each year – and this year might be the best one yet! The Manitoba 150 maze pays tribute to First Nations people and amazes all that sees it and navigates its twists and turns. Along the way, you can discover six large trivia signs and answer the questions. If you need a little practice before entering the maze, then visit Fort Frontier, a fenced maze with activities like Barnyard Bingo and unscramble games hidden around the maze.
After conquering the maze, you can take full advantage of the many attractions they have on-site! Visit the Pumpkin Patch and use the authentic one-hundred-year-old scale. While you’re there, you can pick up some farm goodies like free-range eggs, vegetables, grass-fed ground beef, and much, much more!
If your little ones need to blow off some steam, then a visit to the Tired Mountain and Bale Pyramid is sure to tucker them out!
A visit to the farm isn’t complete without a trip to the petting zoo! Age doesn’t matter; everybody loves to give a few scratches to farm animals! With Lambs and sheep, goats and kids, calves, miniature horses, chicks and even a few baby ducks, you can have a furry good time.
Take a ride on the Wagon Train and visit Deer Meadow Farms’ Wild Game Preserve, where you can spot their rescued herd of Fallow Deer. On the ride, you learn about Fallow Deer, habitats, eco-systems and food chains.
On October 16, you can experience one of Manitoba’s most terrifying and thrilling experiences – The Forbidden Forest and Haunted Hayride. Deer Meadow Farms goes all out for Halloween; with ten life-size and huge sets, fifteen acres of Forest with nightmarish creatures, full special effects with lights, sound, fog and SFX, this is an experience you won’t soon forget.
Your evening of fright starts with the Haunted Hayride as it travels to the Forbidden Forest. If you dare, enter the forest to find a world of monsters, evil, and terror. Navigate through the six sets (Cemetery, Clown Box, Castle, Wolf’s Lair, the Asylum and the Witch’s Hut, and (hopefully) come out alive.

Long Way Homestead (Ste. Genevieve)
If you are looking to explore a family-owned and operated fibre farm and wool mill, then look no further! Long Way Homestead would love to have you take a tour of their farm. Call ahead to make an appointment to get the full experience.
A day at the farm is a day of meeting sheep, watching the adorable lambs explore, holding baby ducks, and taking a tour through their natural dye gardens. They’re not afraid of showing you the nitty-gritty either! Take a tour of the wool processing mill and learn how yarn and textiles are made.
Keep your eyes open for workshops too! Most workshops that Long Way Homestead are planning are via Zoom, so you can learn about breed-specific knitting, sheep school (how to raise sheep), natural dye, and much more in the comfort of your home.
The farm grounds are breathtaking! Situated on Treaty One Territory, just on the edge of the Boreal Plains region, the land is a mix of forest and wetland. Scattered across the land are Balsam Poplar, Jack Pine, and Black Spruce trees, and you will find it is home to many wild animals like deer, coyotes, beaver, squirrels and many different species of birds.
The Farm is home to laying hens, a flock of Shetland Sheep and Merino cross sheep and two llamas. In the Summer months, you can also find chickens and heritage breed pigs for meat. In Fall, they sell they pastured poultry, free-range eggs, and pork direct from the farm. As guiding values for how they treat their animals on the farm, they strive for:
- Providing access to fresh seasonal vegetation for all our animals.
- No growth hormones or antibiotics
- Locally sourced grain and avoid known GMO grains
