Spring: Pineridge Hollow – Oakbank

One of the most traditional ways of popping the question is over a romantic (and of course, tasty) meal. At Pineridge Hollow, you will find a wonderful fine-dining experience that will set the mood for this life-changing and special moment.

Pineridge’s motto is Taste the Prairies – something that they do extremely well. Supporting local growers and producers, you’ll find that their menu features the talents of their neighbouring farmers and ranchers. With these home-grown ingredients, you can taste the incredible flavours of wholesome, delicious, and comforting food.

From the solid wood tables and chairs, fresh-cut flowers, luscious menu options and beverages, and the peaceful, yet suave environment, Pineridge Hollow is the perfect place for your big question.

Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail – Brokenhead

Hiking the Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail is always magical, but doing it during the winter simply out of this world. The wetlands offer a beautifully romantic location to ask your special someone that important question.

Visitors can experience the important connection between the wetland and the traditional Ojibway teachings of Respect, Purpose, Balance, and Interconnection, which seems very fitting for the occasion! While you are heading out in winter, it’s important to mention that the wetland contains 28 of Manitoba’s 37 native orchid species, including the globally rare Ram’s Head Lady-Slipper, the Dragon’s Mouth orchid and more common yellow and pink lady slippers.

The trail features a wooden boardwalk but also has gravel sections. Some things to keep in mind when hiking is:

  • Please stay on the trail and boardwalk to avoid harming and damaging plants, the natural habitat, and the environment.
  • No dogs on the trail.
  • No smoking.
  • No parking on the highway when the gate is closed.

All Year: Blueberry Rock – Lac du Bonnet

Nestled in the community of Lac du Bonnet is the Blueberry Rock Trail. With Lush Boreal Forests, Canadian Shield outcroppings, blueberries perfect for picking (usually in August), abundant wildlife, wildflowers, foliage, deciduous and coniferous trees, and much more, this is the ideal destination to spend with your love.

Whether you’re planning on asking the question in Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter, Blueberry Rock is a four-season destination that adds beauty and charm. The perfect place to propose would be climbing up to the lookout tower. With this view, you get a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area, including water, the quarry, and the forest.

Another fantastic place would be the hydro quarry, which is just past the lookout tower. This breathtaking spot is indescribable and offers a gorgeous place to add to your magic moment.
