Lac du Bonnet Wildlife Association Completes Phase 1 of the Outdoor Education Centre

The volunteers of the Lac du Bonnet Wildlife Association (LDBWA) sure have been busy bees over the summer – they’ve completed phase 1 of the Outdoor Education Centre! Since the start of the project, thousands of hours of volunteers’ blood, sweat, and tears have gone into this exciting project.

The Outdoor Education Centre will officially launch in Spring 2023 and features a rifle range, small arms range, trap shooting, and archery range. Once fully completed, the OEC will be a one-of-a-kind gem in Western Canada, as no such facility exists in the area to provide outdoor skills education, safety, and recreational opportunities

Check out the video below, where LDBWA President, Brian Shirtliffe, gives a tour of the work done so far and visit their website for more details.

Pinawa Fun!

Pinawa has two exciting events in November!

First up is another fantastic concert from Eastern Manitoba Concert Association (EMCA) on November 4, 2022, featuring The Fitzgeralds!

The Fitzgeralds are a multi-award-winning band, and with their deep roots in Canadian fiddle and step-dance traditions, this versatile sibling group presents a fresh new look at Canadian folk music! Julie, Kerry, and Tom Fitzgerald have performed together since early childhood, joined now by Alanna Jenish. Fiddles, tap shoes, guitar, bass, keyboard, and vocals are their tools, and creating memorable stage shows is their toe-tapping trade. With bows and feet flying, you’ll marvel at their musical gymnastics!

For more info, visit EMCA’s website!

From November 17 to 19, 2022, Pinawa Players Presents Love, Loss and What I Wore, originally a collection of stories by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron based on the book by Ilene Beckerman. Watch as this beloved community organization brings out the local talent of Pinawa!

Before the show starts on November 18 and 19, enjoy live music by Pinawa’s JABaHH and a tasty appetizer plate with wine and beer. November 17 features only the play.

Mennonite Heritage Village’s Leaving Canada Exhibit Closes

Last call! Mennonite Heritage Village Museum’s exhibit, Leaving Canada: ‘The Mennonite Migration to Mexico,’ is closing on November 30, 2022.

Featuring artifacts from Mennonite Heritage Village’s collection, historical photographs from public archives and private collections, and original interpretative content, Leaving Canada draws on the most current research on the topic of the 1920s emigration from Canada.

Leaving Canada explores the history of an ethnoreligious community’s determination to preserve its autonomy. It is a story about competing conceptions of religious freedom and of tensions between religious, linguistic, and educational rights on the one hand and the obligations of citizenship on the other.
