Cheyenne Summer Fest is Back! A Fun, Lively Event for the Whole Family

The Cheyenne Summer Fest is back on July 15 and 16, 2022! This beloved event has been cancelled for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so organizers and the community of Ste. Agathe is ready to put on the biggest festival weekend! This year will feature fantastic new activities as well as fan-favourite ones. Keep reading to discover what amazing plans they have in store for the weekend!

Cheyenne Summer Fest 2022 Edition

Become part of the Ste. Agathe community for this two-day event on July 15 and 16. Admission is $5.00, with kids 12 and under free!

The festival grounds are located at the beautiful Cheyenne Park, offering picnic shelters, walking trails, bird watching, disc golf course, beach volleyball, baseball diamonds, soccer pitch, and horseshoe pits. It is also home to a full-service campground offering washrooms with showers, fire pits, firewood, and access to fresh water. It’s a stunning location for festivities and pairs perfectly with the vibe of the Cheyenne Summer Fest.

Cheyenne Fest has big things planned! Friday, July 15, the festivities start with the opening of the beer garden and canteen, followed by the ever-favourite Cheyenne Parade. Huddle together around the fire for the good old fashion activity of roasting marshmallows and cooking up some s’mores. Then it’s time for Family Feud – or in this case, Cheyenne Feud. Hosted by Lionel Collette and based on the popular Family Feud game show, you can register your family team to compete against others to name the most popular answers to survey-type questions. Make sure to stay the whole night because, at 10:30 PM, you’ll be treated to a gorgeous fireworks display!On Saturday, July 16, start the day by watching or participating in the Family Ball Tournament. Interested in participating? All you have to do is grab the family, a bunch of friends, and a couple of neighbours to enter your team into the fun and friendly baseball tournament. Enjoy a delicious, mouth-watering pancake breakfast paired with live entertainment by Simon Reimer. Throughout the day, the kids can enjoy various activities like bubble soccer, bouncers, face painting, and more.

If you love competition, then you have to sign up for the horseshoe tournament and the Fris-Nok tournament! For the horseshoe tournament, test your skills at this classic, wholesome activity and try to bring home the champion cup! Registration cost is $10.00, and you can sign up on-site. Sign up for the Fris-Nok Tournament and see if you have what it takes to win this Manitoba classic game! This game requires teams of two. Registration costs $10.00 per person, and you can register on-site or online on their website.

After such a busy, fun day, fill your bellies with Lucky Luc’s dinner special with a live dance performance by Quantum Dance. If the dance performance inspires you to shake your groove thing, the Cheyenne Summer Fest’s Mexican social/dance party is just the thing you need! Hear all your favourite tunes, get on that dance floor, and bust a move like no one is watching!This Festival is all about having a blast, meeting old friends and new ones, and gathering together to enjoy the community spirit. During an interview with the Niverville Citizen, Eric Gagnon, chair of the Cheyenne Summer Festival organizing committee, said it best:

“For us, this Festival is about providing an opportunity for both the people of Ste. Agathe as well as our friends and families from neighbouring communities to come together, enjoy each other’s company, and form new friendships with their fellow neighbours—something that we’ve largely taken for granted in the past, and something that the pandemic has taught us to appreciate and treasure. After all, at the end of the day it isn’t the fireworks show, the baseball tournament, or any of our other program highlights that make the Cheyenne Summer Fest what it is: it’s the people.”
