There is a lot to see at this unique museum! The Village of St-Pierre-Jolys has a rich French-Canadian history, and the museum perfectly displays this in a variety of ways.

Step into the past by exploring three authentic buildings, Le Couvent, La Maison Goulet, and The Sugar Shack.

Le Couvent – Built in 1900, this building was a teaching convent owned by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. It served as a public school for 1 to 10 and a girls’ boarding school for 60 years.

The Sugar Shack (Cabane à Sucre) – Thanks to the dedication of many volunteers, the “Cabane” has become a very important part of the tourism development of the Village of St-Pierre-Jolys.

La Maison Goulet – Moïse Goulet was a freighter who transported merchandise by Red River oxcart from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Fort Garry, Manitoba. His house was situated on the Crow Wing Trail, near the Rat River, two miles south of St-Pierre-Jolys. It was donated to the St-Pierre-Jolys Museum in 1985 and stands straight and strong on the magnificent Museum grounds.

The Museum also offers incredible experiences like the Maple Syrup Tour, Glamping at the Goulet House, Making of the Rat River Métis Tour, and a virtual tour of the Sugar Shack. You can experience and learn the remarkable history of this village.

4. Outdoor Adventure Galore!

One of the top 5 reasons you have to visit St-Pierre-Jolys is the excellent outdoor adventure and activities opportunities.

The Crow Wing Trail is twists and turns through St-Pierre-Jolys. Access is located at the St-Pierre-Jolys Museum and promises an adventure of magnificent beauty, wildlife, and connecting with nature.

The Crow Wing Trail is a total of 193 km, connecting and twisting through communities starting at Emerson-Franklin and ending in Winnipeg and is part of the Trans Canada Trail. Towns and Municipalities it runs through are Roseau River First Nation, De Salaberry, St-Pierre-Jolys, Niverville, Ritchot and Emerson Franklin.

This 18-hole course consists of rolling tree-lined fairways, elevated greens and challenging water hazards that complement the Rat River, which meanders through the course.
