It’s a busy, activities full week in the Eastman Region! Valentine’s Day and Louis Riel Day are happening this week and the communities and organizations are ready to give you and your loved ones perfect ways to celebrate! Treat your special someone (and yourself) to one of the numerous dances, shows, and delicious Valentine’s Day meals happening all over the place! Even the kids can get in on the fun of Valentine’s Day at Niverville’s Mini Spa Day.
Lac du Bonnet is gearing up for their annual Winter Family Fun Day – a day full of family games, activities, and yummy goodies! And head over to the Mennonite Heritage Village Museum their Winterfest where the fun never stops!
Treat your friend or that someone special with a four-course meal during Emerson Golf Course’s Love is a Funny Thing! Your meals will be prepared by Chef Simon Resch, Chef Kyle Hiebert, and Chef Berlyn Wall, followed by an evening of laughs with comedian Jordan Welwood!
Is there anything cuter than a kid spa day? I don’t think so!
Make your little ones feel of so special this Valentine’s Day at the Niverville Mini Spa Day! This event is for kiddos age 2-10 years. There will be pampering stations to treat one another, Valentine’s craft table, and some festive treats and refreshments!
Mennonite Heritage Village Museum is hosting its annual Winterfest! Sit back and relax on a horse-drawn sleigh ride, or try your hand at Crokinole during the Crokinole Tournament. Cuddle up close and listen to stories by special guest, Metis Storyteller – Tibert le Voyageur. There are plenty of games that your kiddos will love to play.
Enjoy the various outdoor activities like snow sculpting, roasting marshmallows, Crokicurl, skating, sledding and best of all – exploring the village!
At Cougar Cafe you can spend the evening with provincial zoologist, Bill Watkins, as you discover the cougars of Manitoba. Explore the biology and habitat of these elusive creatures and learn how to identify signs that they may be prowling your neighbourhood. Afterwards, enjoy Q&A with Bill around a bonfire!
Join a Park Interpreter in the Chalet for the Wolf Howl and discover what makes the timber wolf such a unique animal, then you’ll hike to a special location to howl for wolves and listen for their calls. Afterwards, warm up around a fire with hot chocolate and s’mores!
Start your Winter Family Fun Day off with a stomach full of delicious home-made pancakes and coffee, tea, or juice for only a Toonie at St. John’s Heritage Church & Arts Centre.
Then head on out and catch all the events happening in Lac du Bonnet. Hit the trails at Blueberry Rock with snowshoes, or enjoy hanging out by the fire and watch the bannock making! Afterwards, this is the perfect spot for a hotdog and some yummy toasted marshmallows with your family and friends.
And don’t miss the action at the Lac du Bonnet Town Dock where you will find more food and hot chocolate, free skating on the open rink from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, free horsedrawn sleigh rides by Ridge Creek Ranch from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, or participating in, or watching, the silliest of sled races that you can imagine. That’s right, the Wacky Sled Race, full of home-made cardboard sleds of all shapes and sizes will be taking place again this year.
As if that wasn’t enough action for one family packed day, the Community Centre Bowling lanes will be open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for free bowling!
When you’re ready to wind down, come back to visit us in the late afternoon at St. John’s Church for a relaxing yoga session.
