Whitemouth Municipal Museum

Discover the intriguing history of RM of Whitemouth at the Whitemouth Municipal Museum! This museum encases the stories and cultures of the communities of Whitemouth, Seven Sisters Falls, River Hills, and Elma; and tells the story of how these towns have grown into the beautiful communities we know today and how they helped shaped Manitoba.

Throughout the museum, you’ll find a world of fascinating facts, stories, artifacts and displays like a 1929 train caboose, a 1909 pioneer house, antique farm machinery collection, a blacksmith shop and log trapper’s cabin, a military M109 A4 Howitzer tank, and a whole artifact building with special treasures and unique items.

Discover the story of Dr. Charlotte Whitehead Ross or “The Iron Rose,” as some people like to call her. In 1875, Charlotte achieved her goal of receiving her medical certificate from the Women’s Medical College in Philadelphia. From 1881 to 1912, she practiced medicine in the region – even though she was not allowed to hold a medical license in the Province of Manitoba during that time.

Tours are available by appointment only as it is their off-season. Call Bob at 204-348-7731 in advance to book your tour! The church is also available for weddings, specials events or even as an incredible photo location!

This scenic 130-kilometre tour takes you through the vibrant communities of Elma, River Hills, Seven Sisters Falls and Whitemouth. Discover stunning views, historical sites and more while travelling along the scenic backroads. This tour allows you to enjoy the Whitemouth River Valley area from the safety and comfort of your vehicle while giving you the flexibility to stop and enjoy attractions, shops, restaurants and more at your leisure!

As for the contest, all you have to do is post a photo or video of you enjoying the tour and having a blast while using the hashtag #whitemouthriverdrivingtour on Facebook and/or Instagram. Cheryl, the owner, guide, and creator of Thistlewood Pottery, is a teacher-turned potter with a love of designing and producing her wares. Whether you shop online or prefer exploring the shop in person, you can find one-of-the-kind, hand-crafted pottery work like mugs, pitchers, bowls, plates, and so much more created with care and passion. You can find Thistlewood on Etsy or visit the shop on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9-5, as well as various markets.

Thistlewood Pottery is so much more than a place to shop, though. It’s where you can harness your own creativity too! Continuing with her roots as a teacher, Cheryl also guides and teaches the art of pottery through classes. Classes are offered preferably to groups of four to six people.
