Road Trip to Lac du Bonnet – Experience Nature, Thrills and Fun!

Hike or Snowshoe the Blue Water South Trail

Get your hiking and snowshoeing game on during your road trip to Lac du Bonnet!

The Blue Water South Trail is the Lac du Bonnet portion of the Great Trail that runs from Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park to Great Falls. At approximately 37km long, the trail provides many year-round activities to enjoy like hiking, swimming, paddling, snowshoeing, skiing, horseback riding and snowmobile trails.

For your winter adventure, you’ll head over to the Tower Road (towards PR 313) section of the trail for incredible, relaxing hiking or snowshoeing experience. Hiking or snowshoeing, this section is simply magnificent as you explore the boreal forest, frozen bogs and treetop view from the top of the snow-covered granite outcropping.

And bring your skis too! Across the street from the hiking/snowshoe trail is the Blue Water South Ski Trail! Skiiers of all skill levels will enjoy the level ground encountering a few slight inclines on this 10km, wonderfully groomed ski trail.

This multi-use trail is proudly brought to you by the hardworking, dedicated volunteers of the Lac du Bonnet Trails Association.

Ice Fishing

If you love ice fishing, then Lac du Bonnet is the perfect destination for you! With over 60 Kilometers of rivers and lakes in Lac du Bonnet, it’s no wonder that Lac du Bonnet is one of the hottest fishing and ice fishing destinations in Manitoba.

Whether you’re an avid angler or just starting, everyone and anyone will fall in love with Lac du Bonnet’s fishing spots! Some ice fishing destinations are the LdB Town Dock and Beach, the Laverendrye Boat Launch and The Lac du Bonnet Wildlife Association Trout  Ponds!

Snowmobiling

Get ready for the ride of your life with Lac du Bonnet’s fantastic snowmobiling trails!

With over 500km of groomed trails to explore, you can enjoy a thrilling adventure on pristine trails while experiencing breathtaking sights. Plus, did you know that Lac du Bonnet was named the 2021 SledTown Showdown Champions by SnoRiders West Magazine!

Lac du Bonnet has two volunteered-run snowmobiling clubs, the Eastman SnoPals and the Lee River Snow Riders, who maintain and groom the trails and shelters across Lac du Bonnet. During your ride, you’ll enjoy a nice flowing ride through a pine forest in the Canadian Shield to a straight line over an old rail bed through swampy and sandy pastureland.
