The RM of Piney consists of 12 communities with a total population of around 1,755 people. The people in these friendly communities mostly speak English as a first language; however, French, German, Polish, and Ukrainian are also spoken here. When not putting on festivals and other activities, the people of the area can be found hard at work. The principal industries in the area are agriculture and forestry but tourism in the region is vibrant.
