Who doesn't love ice fishing? It's peaceful, relaxing and a whole lot of fun! The only thing that can make it any better is winning cash and cool prizes at the same time!

Who doesn’t love ice fishing? It’s peaceful, relaxing and a whole lot of fun! The only thing that can make it any better is winning cash and cool prizes at the same time! The Eastman Region has some of the best Ice Fishing Derbies out there and they’re quickly coming up. So, grab your family, friends and gear get fishing!

Ice Fishing Derby

January 25 – Black River

This Pickeral only ice-fishing derby is a fundraiser hosted by Black River Jordan’s Principle & Health Care. This Summer (July 12 to 19), four of their youth members will be participating in the 2020 North American Indigenous Games! As a way to support these four, Black River Jordan’s Principle & Health Care planned and organized this fishing derby to help pay for costs.

Grab your fishing rod and try to catch the biggest pickerel of the day to win first place of $2,000 (second to eighth place $1,000 to $100).

Fish’n the Bay

January 25 – Buffalo Point

Kick-off the fishing derby season by participating in the Fish’n the Bay Fishing Derby! Enjoy the day in beautiful Buffalo Point and doing one of Canada’s best pass times – fishing! Be one of the winners of their top 3 prizes by catching the longest fish.

In first place, we have a two-day fishing trip or a play & stay package; second place is a fish house; and third place, one day of ice fishing! They also have prize draws. How nice would it be to walk away with a 50” screen TV, a trail cam or any one of their many other prizes?

Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby

February 29 – Lac du Bonnet

The Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby is a hidden length and time derby where size doesn’t matter! There is $55,000 in total cash and prizes to give away, including the $10,000 for the person who can win the hidden length and time. Don’t fret if you don’t catch a fish though because you can still win amazing prizes in their randomly drawn prizes. Master Anglers, professional fishers, fishing enthusiasts, and families alike all have a great time out on the ice!

Falcon Lake Winter Fish-Off

March 21 – Falcon Lake

Falcon Lake is ready for its 17th Winter Fish-Off! With over $100,000 in cash and prizes to give away, this is sure to be one heck of a good time.

Bring your fishing buddy and catch the biggest fish of the day to win the grand prize of $15,000! Don’t worry if you don’t win the grand prize, you can still win loads of cash and awesome prizes by catching one of the first 50 fish, a random draw for early-bird ticket purchasers, tagged fish, and so many other ways!

Whiteshell Provincial Park

Whiteshell Provincial Park is throwing three classes to show beginners’ techniques and regulations of ice fishing. Arrive at Lyons Lake to predrilled holes to catch some trout! Don’t have any gear, but you really want to go? No worries! All gear is provided.
