On the Edge Tour

March 16 – Landmark & Beausejour

There will be two showings of On the Edge Town on March 16 in Beausejour and Landmark!

As part of the celebrations around Manitoba 150, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg (RWB) Aspirants will take the On the Edge Tour across Manitoba, where the next generation of dancers will showcase a sublime and powerful repertoire for audiences of all ages in performances hosted by schools and communities.

Most performances will feature a Sharing Dance workshop hosted by an RWB School Artistic Faculty Member. These workshops will encourage and increase audience participation and engagement while providing access to the physical, emotional and social benefits of dance.

Tour attendees will experience an array of dance disciplines and the first act will feature a condensed story of the comedic ballet of Don Quixote featuring the beloved main characters preparing for a wedding through intriguing and flirtatious encounters in the market. In act two, the performance changes tone and will feature new contemporary choreography from Gabriela Rehak, Philippe Larouche and Indigenous choreographers Jera Wolfe and Cameron Fraser-Monroe. The performances will take the audience through a spectrum of powerful emotions, connecting them to feelings of love, loss, anger and humor, and will leave viewers with a deeper appreciation of the art and storytelling ability of dance.

Movement as Medicine, Hips and Heart

March 18 – South Moon Studio – East Braintree

Movement as Medicine, Hips and Heart will move through restorative postures, somatic movement and breathing techniques that help create healthy patterns of movement. Targeting specific areas of the body for each workshop, you will work towards re building the brain-muscle connection for lasting ease of chronic pain due to repetitive movement and/or injuries

This workshop is suitable for everyone and is very gentle, like an internal massage and meditation all at once. The results can change the way you move through your day, improving posture and mindfulness of what our body needs to heal old patterns of movement in areas of our body that often feel stuck.

Music Food & Friends with Richard Inman

March 20 – Moon Gate Guest House – Whitemouth

When you go the Moon Gate Guest House, you get more than just music, you get a whole experience! Enjoy fantastic music by Richard Inman and delicious Metis food!
