Springfield Theatre Company Presents Annie

February 20 to 24
Annie, Oakbank

Enjoy this classic tale as Springfield Theatre Company Presents: Annie. An orphan in a facility run by the mean Miss Hannigan, Annie believes that her parents left her there by mistake. When a rich man named Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks decides to let an orphan live at his home to promote his image, Annie is selected. While Annie gets accustomed to living in Warbucks' mansion, she still longs to meet her parents. So Warbucks announces a search for them and a reward, which brings out many frauds.

This one day workshop brought to you by Eastman Tourism will engage participants in understanding the concept of experiential travel and how to work and partner with tourism organizations, tourism coordinators, other tourism attractions/operators and local businesses to create travel experiences specifically oriented to Manitoba tourism markets and target audiences. Explore the planets, stars, sun, and moon in our solar system with exciting songs, games, and crafts that are out of this world at the Nature Detectives Preschool Program “A” is for Astronomy! Join in on a guided moon walk on part of Nimowin Trail as we imagine we’re walking through space. Dress warmly! Enjoy fun games, crafts, songs and a healthy snack while learning more about the outdoors and discover the animals and plants that call Birds Hill Park their home.The program takes place at the Interpretive Workshop, located at the end of Nimowin Road.

GENERATION ZAPPED investigates the potential dangers of prolonged exposure to Radio Frequencies (RF) from wireless technology; its effects on our health and well-being, as well as the health and development of our children. From its links to breast and brain cancer to its associations with increased infertility and genetic mutations related to autism and ADHD, to newly developed illnesses, such as Electrical Hyper-Sensitivity (EHS).”

Marg Friesen, M.Sc. and former biologist and scientific advisor with the Federal Government will also be on hand to speak about her experience with EHS. Marg is also a director with Canadians for Safe Technology. Visithttp://c4st.org/ for more info. She will be demonstrating her RF meters.

The Winter Carnival Committee is excited to announce the return of the Grunthal Winter Carnival! This exciting weekend will host a variety of events, including free sleigh rides, a free candy scramble, an art contest (with prizes), tobogganing hill, a broomball tournament, bonfires, a crib tournament and a surprise hockey game.

Winter Safari Event, Birds Hill Provincial Park

Beat the winter blues at our annual Winter Safari Event! Family fun activities include guided snowshoe treks, a bonfire and bannock bake, scavenger hunt, bird feeder craft and skijoring and kick sledding demos by Snow Motion Winter Dog Sports Club. Location: Interpretive Workshop (at the end of Nimowin Road)
