Mantario Hiking Trail (Whiteshell Provincial Park)

If you are looking for a thrilling, multi-day adventure, then The Mantario Hiking Trail is the place for you! Located in gorgeous Whiteshell Provincial Park and bordered by Ontario, this 60-kilometre trail will satisfy your craving for adventure! Mantario Trail is also the longest Canadian Shield Trail in Western Canada.

There are loads of activities waiting for you. Whether it’s hiking, snowshoeing, or skiing, you can get your fill here. If you are looking for a more extreme endeavour, experienced backpackers can complete the whole trail in about 30 hours over the course of 3 to 4 days.

Outcrops of Precambrian shield surrounded by lakes, streams and peat bogs typify the trail. The trail climbs up and along granite ridges with awesome panoramic views of lakes and bogs surrounded by undulating boreal forest. Then it descends into gullies and ravines of those mixed boreal forests to cross over streams and bogs using beaver dams and logs. There are many steep ascents and descents between the ridges and the bogs, and there are numerous bogs or stream crossings to negotiate.
