If you’re looking for that perfect gift for somebody, or just feelin’ a little thrifty, then The Tickle Trunk is a must-see place! From greeting cards, new and gently used clothes to trinkets and treasures, you’ll never know what unique item you’ll find at The Tickle Trunk! Some people think that small communities lack a diverse, captivating, and rich history; well, the Whitemouth Municipal Museum proves those people wrong. This museum encases the stories and cultures of the communities of Whitemouth, Seven Sisters Falls, River Hills, and Elma; and tells the story of how these towns have grown into the beautiful communities we know today, and how they helped shaped Manitoba.

Explore a 1929 train caboose, a 1909 pioneer house, antique farm machinery collection, a blacksmith shop and log trapper’s cabin, a military M109 A4 Howitzer tank, and a whole artifact building with special treasures and unique items.

One of the most interesting stories and facts that are housed at the museum is the life of Dr. Charlotte Whitehead Ross or “The Iron Rose” as some people like to call her. In 1875, Charlotte achieved her goal of receiving her medical certificate from the Women’s Medical College in Philadelphia. From 1881 to 1912, she practiced medicine in the region – even though she was not allowed to hold a medical license in the Province of Manitoba during that time, as she was the first woman physician in Manitoba.Plan your day trip on a Friday, and you can hop over to Elma for their Farmers Market! On every Friday from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM, you can experience a world of farmers and small business owners that put their heart and soul into their passion. Pick up fresh, locally grown produce that tastes so good; make sure to pick up some home-made sweets for desserts! Look through the handmade items like jewelry, soaps, clothes, knickknacks, and much more for the newest addition to your home’s décor! After this busy and eventful day, you’ll probably feel exhausted. Somehow, unwinding can be tiring too. Moon Gate Guest House is the definition of relaxation and rejuvenation. Stay the night at this Indigenous (Metis) owned, eco-friendly guest house.

Situated on the banks of the Whitemouth River and the border of Treaty No, 1 and 3, Moon Gate wants to provide you with an atmosphere and experience of feeling refreshed, recharged, and reconnecting with yourself. The property is absent of Wi-Fi, so the distractions and annoyances of daily life can’t follow you here, truly providing you with a sanctuary away from stress.

Ways of unwinding at Moon Gate are joining in on the 90-degree Finnish-style sauna that seats nine comfortably, sitting in the riverside gazebo that acts as your little Shangri-La, a spot to read, nap or listen to birds chirping. There are two fire-pit areas and a BBQ for grilling. With the Whitemouth River, merely a short walk away, paddling, swimming, or just dipping your toes in the cool water is a popular activity.

Keep your eye out for retreats and programs that occur at the property. From yoga, house concerts, ceremonies, and more, these can help guide you to the feeling of tranquillity.
