Let’s be honest, sports can either bring out the best in you . . . or the worst. But whichever one it brings out in you, you can still enjoy these 5 Eastman Sporting Competitions. Just remember – it’s just a game people.

Fish’n the Bay Fishing Derby

January 25 – Buffalo Point

Kick-off the fishing derby season by participating in the Fish’n the Bay Fishing Derby! Enjoy the day in beautiful Buffalo Point and doing one of Canada’s best pass times – fishing! Be one of the winners of their top 3 prizes by catching the longest fish.

In first place, we have a two-day fishing trip or a play & stay package; second place is a fish house; and third place, one day of ice fishing! They also have prize draws. How nice would it be to walk away with a 50” screen TV, a trail cam or any one of their many other prizes?

Actif Epica

February 14 to 16 – Crow Wing Trail

If you are a biking or running enthusiast, then Actif Epica is the perfect sporting event for you! Start your trek through the Crow Wing Trail at the Winnipeg Forks and make your way to Eastern Regions of Manitoba St Adolphe, Niverville and St. Pierre-Jolys. If you need a rest while on your journey, have no fear! There are a number of Check Points where you can rest and take a breather.

Offering different course lengths from 50km, 120km, 162km or 200km, so people of different level experiences can enjoy this race.

Grab your gear and even a friend or two for this exciting race!

Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby

February 29 – Lac du Bonnet

The Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby is a hidden length and time derby where size doesn’t matter! There is $55,000 in total cash and prizes to away, including the $10,000 for the person who can win the hidden length and time. Don’t fret if you don’t catch a fish though because you can still win amazing prizes in their randomly drawn prizes. Master Anglers, professional fishers, fishing enthusiasts, and families alike all have a great time out on the ice!

The Floppet

February 29 – Falcon Lake

Calling all Skiers! Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes is holding its 3rd annual Floppet Loppet Ski Race. Race through the well-groomed boreal forest while surrounded by the beautiful scenery – and of course, all your family and friends cheering you on!

You can choose to use either the Classic or Skate techniques and have three different race distances; The Bass (7.5km), The Walleye (17.5km) and The Northern Pike (35km). Even the kids can race too at The Kidz Minnow, a 1.7km race perfect for your little kiddos.

And make sure to bring your family and friends because there are tons of things for them to do too like tubing, skating, downhill skiing and snowboarding!

Canadian Power Toboggan Championships

March 7 & 8 – Beausejour

If you love racing and snowmobiles then you will love the Canadian Power Toboggan Championships! This 1/2 mile oval ice-covered track is not just one of the world’s safest and oldest tracks, but also the fastest. Compete or even sit in the stands with your family as you watch 18 people travelling over 170 km/h on snowmobiles
