1. Bridgehill Pottery Workshop

2. Crow Wing Trail

Are you ready to go on an adventure? At 193 km, the Crow Wing Trail is one of the longest sections of the Trans Canada Trail in Manitoba, making it the perfect place to start your next outdoor adventure! The trail connects Emerson to Winnipeg through the municipalities of Emerson-Franklin, Roseau River First Nation, De Salaberry, St-Pierre-Jolys, Niverville and Ritchot.

For any outdoor enthusiast, the Crow Wing Trail is a paradise, providing the perfect locations for bird watching, photography, biking, horseback riding, or simply taking in the sheer beauty of nature.

3. Fort Dufferin

Emerson-Franklin is bursting with a rich history, and Fort Dufferin is proof of that!

From 1872 to 1874, this site served as the headquarters for the British-Canadian contingent of the International Boundary Commission as they mapped out the 49th parallel. Assembling here was the newly-formed Northwest Mounted Police for their march towards the West – to what is now Alberta.

From 1875 to 1879, Fort Dufferin was an immigration station, where over 18,000 people landed to start their journey to the West. Fort Dufferin is now a National Historic Site maintained by the Post Road Heritage Group with the assistance of the Municipality of Emerson-Franklin.

Be transported back in time as you walk the grounds and discover monuments that tells the history that took place and see original buildings that stand there to this day. Make sure that you stop into the interpretive centre (and use to be Fort Duffin quarters) that holds artifacts and informational displays.

4. Franklin Museum

Another great way to dive into history is by visiting the Franklin Museum! This modest Gothic-styled building was once a church constructed in 1879 as an Episcopal Methodist Church. In 1908 the building was purchased by the Anglican Parish of Dominion City and was relocated to its present site in Dominion City in the Municipality of Emerson-Franklin.

Inside the museum are artifacts, displays, and rich stories of the history of Emerson-Franklin. But the sight of the building itself is worth the drive on its own. From the central tower pointed high in the sky, arched windows with delicate tracers, to the stained glass, the beauty will enchant you at Franklin Museum.

5. Roseau River

If you love heading out on the water, then Roseau River is your next stop! This river can be the best of both worlds, from soothing waters that are perfect for relaxing to whitewater paddling to get your heart pumping. There are even some class I and II rapids if you’re feeling up for the challenge!

With lively wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and even a suspension bridge, you can experience the wonders of nature while out on your adventure!
