Nature Photography Evening

We will be meeting at the Weston Family Tall Grass Interpretive Centre at 7 p.m. From there, artist Alexandra Ross will lead an exploration of the tall grass prairie. Although there will be a few cameras available, we recommend you bring your own. Alexandra Ross is a visual artist working primarily in ceramics, print and photography. Her art disrupts the constructed tensions between chaos and order; human and animal; sublime and mundane. Her work seeks to find the liminal space between these dichotomies and expose areas where the line is blurred or reversed. Alexandra is currently completing her BFA at the University of Manitoba’s School of Art.

Matt Epp Down by the River

Sweet Spot Productions and Moon Gate Guest House presents MATT EPP Down by the River... Featuring new music from Shadowlands released June 22, 2018. There are geographies of darkness within each of us. Monstrous thunderclouds, black as pitch, gather and roll over vast Prairies; great lakes pulse and seethe and swell as their depths swallow up every ray of light that pierces their waves. It was into this psychic terrain that Matt Epp walked to harvest the lush, haunted Americana of Shadowlands—an unflinching portrait of the artist dropping his guard to explore and embrace his own twilight wilderness.

"...the main thing is that Matt Epp is simply one of the best of a generation of fine songwriters emerging in this country over the last decade or so, and carrying forward the torch of Canadian songwriting that goes back to Lightfoot, Mitchell, Young, Cohen and Cockburn. It’s what we’re really good at." — Gary Cristall, Vancouver Folk Music Festival

"Since the early days in 2003, at the Wednesday Night Open Mic at the Regal Beagle in Winnipeg, Matt Epp has impressed me with his songwriting ability, his curiosity about life and his contagious sense of adventure. Back then I thought he had it. What it takes to shine on the Canadian music scene. Well he hasn't proven me wrong yet! He's already lived a lifetime and has a lot of stories to tell." — Paulette LaFortune, Sweet Spot Productions

We are very excited to host Matt Epp at Moon Gate Guest House in Whitemouth, Manitoba! Grab your blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy an intimate evening of music and songs under the setting sun down by the river... $25 Reserved Tickets via Eventbrite plus service fee (VISA, MC, AMEX).
