Grunthal Berries & Vegetables

The farmers, Colleen and Mark, specialize in having a long picking season for strawberries but the farm also grows some raspberries, watermelon and the occasional fresh vegetables, such as cucumbers, squash and pumpkin. The farm uses its own fruit to produce very delicious strawberry jam and they offer a jam making experience.

Ice Fishing

Kleefeld’s Honey Festival

The Honey Festival, held in August, has been a yearly tradition in this town since 1970! The event start on Friday night with a Movie Night in the park. The canteen will be open serving all kinds of snacks. Saturday will begin with a FREE pancake breakfast followed by the parade. Logging Days in Marchand

This annual Logging Days event is held every year the 2nd last weekend of August. Events include a slow pitch tournament, evening dance in the park, kids games and so much more! Check out the all new Redneck games!  Go to

Morris Stampede

The town of Morris is one of the gateways to Eastern Manitoba and each summer Morris is the home to Manitoba’s only Pro level rodeo stampede. The Morris Stampede runs in July and features Rodeo Clown shows, Professional Bull Riders, a parade, carnival rides, Chuckwagon races, and much more.


The Patricia Beach Community Club is host to “Coffee House and Circle Jam” on the second Sunday of each month during January to February from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for guitar pickers, song writers, fiddlers, banjo pickers, and players of any other acoustic instrument. Come out on January 11 and enjoy some great home made music and food. Volunteers will prepare soup and bannock and the coffee and tea pot will be on.  Attendance will be by donation to the hall. Niverville Old Tyme Country Fair

This spectacular two day event is held on the second weekend in June and draws crowds of 10,000+ people! The fair boasts live entertainment, delicious food samplings, carnival rides, motocross, car show, street market, parade and a 4 on 4 hockey tournament.


Find plenty of tranquil flat water paddling at its finest on Eastern Manitoba's numerous lakes.  Explore popular routes in Whiteshell, Nopiming, and Atikaki Provincial Parks.  Check the maps for specific routes that match your preferences from a few to many portages or from a day trip to a weekend in the wild.

Piney Blueberry Festival

Famous for its grand blueberry crops, the wild fruit are featured each year at the Piney Blueberry Festival. Come and pick your own or roam the area and discover the other mysteries in the Cat Hills. While the gently rolling hills provide some of the best wild fruit in S.E. Manitoba. These same hills are also an excellent winter playground.  Happens in August.

Rainbow Trout Music Festival

The best time you’ll have all summer… hands down… without a doubt. Rainbow Trout Music Festival and Fishing Derby is a uniquely Manitoban indie music festival held just outside of Winnipeg during the 3rd weekend of August. Performers range from rock, folk, electronic, hip hop, blues, country, roots, and more! Swimming, camping, fishing (with a license), and MUSIC in the middle of nowhere!!

Rock Climbing

Eastern Manitoba may not be the first place that comes to mind for rock climbing, but local climbers head to the Canadian Shield in Eastern Manitoba to climb the granite cliff faces in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Favoured sites include Castle Rock, found on Big Whiteshell Lake and Lily Pond Cliff, west of Caddy Lake.



Cross-country gliding...

Explore the 30-km of cross-country ski trails in popular Birds Hill Provincial Park. Groomed for skiing in the winter, this system of trails criss-crosses Birds Hill's backcountry. The six trails vary from 4 to 14 km in length and are designed for novice to intermediate skiers. Shelters with wood stoves and firewood have been provided along several of the trails. Trailheads are at the riding stable restaurant and at the Chickadee Trail parking lot.

Harness up your dog and go skijoring on dog-friendly trails. Get a workout for both skier and pet! Or  trade in the skis for a sleigh and go kicksledding with your dog instead. Check out the Snow Motion Winter Dog Sports Club of Manitoba for lessons or group outings with like-minded enthusiasts.


Thousands of kilometres of designated, groomed snowmobile trails crisscrossing the region. Ride across the wide open of a frozen lake or enjoy the secluded feel of a forested trail. Sled from town to town or explore the woods from your lodge or cabin on a series of day trips.  Whiteshell Provincial Park has close to 300 km of snowmobile trails in magnificent Canadian Shield country, a combination of rock cliffs and boreal forest. Warm up in one of eight shelters along the route. Strap on snowshoes to explore the bush or ramble on designated trails in Eastern Manitoba’s numerous parks. Try out the modern lightweight, slim versions with crampons to easily traverse hills and hard packed snow or ice. Play it old school with traditional woodframed beavertail or bear paw snowshoes for an authentic feel. The choice is yours – snowshoeing can take you places you could not normally go in the snow!

Springfield Agricultural Fair

For over 130 years, this fair has been celebrating agriculture in Dugald each July and features fresh produce stands, a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, and the ever popular quilting exhibits. They also have the pancake breakfast, live entertainment, pony rides, bouncers, mini golf, barrel train rides, children's crafts, scarecrow building contest, pet show, tractor pull, huck-a-boot, yes your heard right, face painting, LEGO building contest, bicycle decorating contest and much more.

St-Malo Festival of Friends

The St-Malo Festival of Friends takes place on Louis Riel weekend in February at St Malo Provincial Park.  The annual festival offers a spectacular celebration of culture, cuisine and tradition. Ignore the cold and snow and get out and celebrate all that St-Malo Provincial Park has to offer in the winter. The park will be bursting with culinary experiences, fantastic regional cultural entertainment and wonderful winter family activities. Beat the cold and make the St-Malo Festival of Friends a family tradition.  Since February 2008, the festival is held during the Louis Riel long weekend to celebrate "Joie de Vivre".
