Day 1

Start your journey in Bissett and explore the Little North.  Its pristine lakes, rivers and lush forest will leave you breathless.  The Bird River is iconic for paddling in Manitoba.  The upper portion is in a protected section of Nopiming Provincial Park and is part of the most popular canoe route in the province.  The lower Bird River is a beautifully undisturbed river teeming with wildlife, all accessible to allow you to experience real wilderness.  Then explore First Nations history and learn about cultures of years past at Hollow Water First Nations.  Northeastern Manitoba will surprise and satisfy your adventurous spirit.

Day 2

Then head to Powerview-Pine Falls to celebrate the 4P Festival held each Labour Day weekend.  The festival recognizes the contributions of Paper, Pea, Pickerel and Power – the four things that Powerview-Pine Falls was built on.  Participate in a local fish fry, open mic music, a baseball tournament then drop your canoe in the Winnipeg River for a late afternoon paddle.

Day 3

Lace up your hiking boots because you’re heading to The Great Trail near Powerview-Pine Falls for a picnic lunch in the boreal forest.  This is wildlife viewing at its best.  Later, continue on to Lac du Bonnet for your over-night stay at a quaint B&B on the river.  Cast a line from your canoe or try your luck fishing off the Lac du Bonnet town dock or hire a fishing outfitter for the afternoon.

Day 4

Begin with a hearty home-cooked breakfast then pick up garden fresh vegetables at the Lac du Bonnet Farmer’s Market for lunch and head to the Pinawa Dam Provincial Park for your morning paddle and “discover the secret”.  The Pinawa Channel will delight paddlers of all skill levels.  Get even more adventurous and cross the Suspension Bridge. In the town, wildlife viewing is abundant so bring a camera.
