Ice fishing in Manitoba is a Canadian rites of passage for some.  On lakes and rivers you`ll see ice fishing shacks dotted on the ice, strategically placed in hopes of catching the elusive `big one`.  Stay cozy in your shack or rent a cabin near your fishing hole and run in to warm up with some hot chocolate.  Fish alone or at one of the many derbys in Eastern Manitoba.  In late February, Manitobans and visitors to the province can enjoy ice fishing without needing a Manitoba fishing licence during the annual winter Family Fishing Weekend.  Anglers will be able to fish without a licence provincewide, except in national parks where a federal licence is still required. The same conservation limits that apply to licensed fishing will remain in effect.  Capture the beauty of Manitoba’s winter wonderland with a camera and post the photos on www.facebook.com/pages/Eastman-Tourism
